Stories that matter
Global Stories is the independent non-fiction publishing imprint founded by Jaqui Lane in 2011 and the foundation on which The Book Adviser was built.

15 Years of Global Stories

What's in a Name?
As its name suggests, Global Stories focuses on stories that matter across business, industry, the professions and the wider community. Drawing on more than 35 years of independent business history, writing and publishing experience, Jaqui created the imprint to preserve important knowledge, record significant achievements and help ensure that the stories shaping organisations and industries are not lost over time.

Defining Global Stories: Company Histories
Over the past fifteen years, the imprint has published the histories of listed public companies, family businesses and private organisations including Amcor, Cleanaway, Aspen Medical, Kennards Self Storage, Forty Winks, Carpet Court, Daydream Island, Craig Mostyn Group, Clough, BT Financial Group, Australian Philanthropic Services and TWUSUPER. These books are often commissioned to mark major anniversaries, leadership transitions or significant milestones. They do more than record events. They capture the decisions, values, people and culture that shaped an organisation’s journey and preserve them for future generations.
Businesses Forging Important Conversations
Alongside corporate histories, Global Stories has published a growing collection of specialist business books that contribute to important conversations across business and the professions. Titles include Checkmate Humanity: The How and Why of Responsible AI by Catriona Wallace, The Cost of Not Caring by Abby Bloom, Creating Impact by Kaye Frankcom and colleagues, Strategic Portfolio Management by Tony Kenck, and Risking It All by Phil Pryor. Each reflects Jaqui’s long-standing interest in helping experts organise their knowledge, communicate it clearly and publish books that continue to educate and influence long after they are released.

Stories that Stand the Test of Time
Today, that experience continues through The Book Adviser. While Global Stories remains the publishing imprint for many corporate history and specialist publishing projects, The Book Adviser reflects the broader advisory role Jaqui now plays. Working with organisations, executives and subject matter experts, she helps clients develop books that preserve corporate legacy, strengthen professional authority and ensure that valuable knowledge is captured with care, accuracy and publishing discipline.
After more than three decades in the industry, Jaqui remains guided by a simple belief: the stories that shape organisations, industries and communities deserve to be researched thoroughly, written thoughtfully and published to stand the test of time.

Nation Building. How Immigration Made Australia
This is Philip Ruddock’s first-hand account of his life in politics and his years as Australia’s longest-serving Immigration Minister. It traces his role in reshaping the migration system, helping to build a younger, stronger and more globally connected nation. It also argues that multiculturalism is central to Australia’s success, making new Australians part of our shared story and vital to our collective strength. Above all, this is his account of how immigration built modern Australia and why it’s central to our future.

Philip Ruddock
Philip Ruddock is Australia’s second longest-serving federal parliamentarian and its longest-serving Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. First elected in 1973, he served in the House of Representatives for 43 years and held the immigration portfolio from 1996 to 2003, overseeing major reforms to Australia’s migration program.
A Cabinet Minister from 1998 to 2007, Ruddock also served as Minister for Reconciliation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Reconciliation, and Attorney-General. Across half a century of public service, he has helped shape national policy on immigration, multiculturalism, reconciliation, law and governance.
