From Budapest to Scalpel
From Budapest to Scalpel is the memoir of Dr Peter Conrad. In it he tells of his background as a Holocaust survivor of the Budapest Ghetto in 1944 where he was incarcerated with his parents and sister, and their subsequent migration to Sydney. It also tells of his journey through medical school in Sydney then his surgical training in London where he met his wife, and their subsequent return to Sydney where he established a busy General and Trauma surgical practice.
It is a happy story of a man determined to forget the past and achieve a balance between a very stressful professional life and a devotion to family and friends, and his gratitude to Australia for providing him with so much joy in his life.
